Accessibility

Effective date: October 19, 2026

GORA wants everyone to be able to read about, choose and buy our products, whatever device or assistive technology they use. We design and test gorarituals.com against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, which is the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidance and by Section 508. This page describes what we have done, what we check, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

1. Our standard and how we test

  • Target: WCAG 2.2 Level AA across every page, in both desktop and phone layouts.
  • Automated checks with axe-core run against every route of the built site before a release, covering WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 A/AA rules and best practices.
  • Manual checks: keyboard-only navigation, screen-reader reading order (VoiceOver and NVDA), 200% zoom and 320 px-wide reflow, and the operating-system reduced-motion setting.
  • This statement is reviewed whenever the site changes materially, and at least twice a year.

2. What we have built in

Structure and navigation

  • A “Skip to content” link is the first thing the keyboard reaches on every page.
  • One main landmark, a labelled primary navigation, and footer navigation regions; headings run in order from a single H1.
  • The current page is announced in the navigation, and every page has its own title.
  • Every control is reachable and operable with a keyboard, with a clearly visible focus ring.

Dialogs, bag and consent

  • The shopping bag, the kit offer and the privacy preferences are true dialogs: focus moves into them when they open, stays inside while they are open, returns to where you were when they close, and Escape closes them.
  • The free-shipping meter and bag totals are live regions, so screen readers hear changes without hunting for them.
  • Privacy choices use real switches with names and states; “Necessary only” is one tap.

Reading and seeing

  • Body text is 17 px on pure white; all text, including captions and taglines, meets the 4.5 : 1 contrast ratio. Information is never carried by colour alone.
  • Text reflows down to 320 px wide and up to 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling or clipped content.
  • Every meaningful image has a text alternative; decorative plates, clouds and steam are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Product films are silent and carry no information that is not also written beside them, so captions are not needed; each has a descriptive label.

Motion and interaction

  • Drifting clouds, the shelf pick-up, scroll effects and auto-playing films all stop when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Anyone can also turn motion off for this site with the switch below (and in the footer) — it is remembered on this device.
  • Every auto-playing film has a visible pause control.
  • Nothing depends on hovering or dragging: the shower shelf, ingredient cards and carousels all work with a tap or the Tab key, and the phone shelf scrolls with ordinary swipes or its buttons.
  • Interactive targets are at least 24 × 24 px with space between them.

3. Known limitations

  • Checkout is hosted by Shopify. We have chosen it in part for its own accessibility conformance, but its pages are outside our direct control.
  • Ingredient photographs and heritage illustrations are described in text; the full INCI lists are long and are presented as plain text rather than tables by design.
  • Some PDF or third-party content we may link to in future might not meet our standard; we will provide an accessible alternative on request.

4. Tell us what is in your way

If any part of this site is hard to use, or you need information in a different format, write to access@gorarituals.com with the page address and what happened. We aim to reply within two business days and to fix confirmed barriers in the next release. You can also manage or read our privacy policy.

5. Formal approach

This statement follows the format recommended by the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative. Conformance claims are made in good faith on the basis of the tests described above; we do not hold a third-party certification, and we welcome independent audits. Last reviewed October 19, 2026.
